About the Author

Vida Gecas

Meet Vida Gecas, best-selling and award-winning author of “Lucky Puppy Finds Two Families.” Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, Vida now calls western Florida home. Her decorated career spans over three decades of devoted service to her country as a U.S. Army Officer and now a retired Supervisory Special Agent in the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) with the U.S. Department of State.

But Vida’s adventures extend beyond the government halls and embassies she’s served. A lifelong storyteller and passionate mentor, she has inspired young minds as a Girl Scout Troop Leader at American embassies abroad and as a dedicated church youth volunteer and educator back in the States. Today, Vida continues her service to others —serving children and her community through volunteer work with U.S. Veterans and Hospice organizations, animal rescue groups, and local school and church programs.

For Vida, every child deserves the chance to Explore & Dream. With a heart for adventure and a spirit devoted to service, she strives to spark curiosity, compassion, and courage—one story at a time.

Vida’s career adventures led her across the globe—navigating the vibrant cultures of Sub-Saharan Africa, the historic landscapes of Eastern Europe, and the dynamic heart of the Middle East. While posted in Conakry, Guinea, fate intervened: a scruffy, spirited puppy named Lucky crossed her path and soon became her loyal companion, sharing in the joys and challenges life abroad can bring.
